Job Summary

As a Burn Surgery Nurse Practitioner-PCS Nurse Practitioner at the University of California-Davis Health, you will provide independent advanced-level nurse practitioner clinical expertise to patients and their families on an ongoing basis. This includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and specialty protocols as defined by standardized procedures or independently based on licensure.

You will be responsible for providing patient care in a team-based care environment to a diversified patient population. You will apply knowledge, experience, and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations. You will participate in patient and staff education, demonstrate leadership skills, and demonstrate accountability for your own practices as defined by the Nurse Practice Act.

Department Overview:

The Burn Division at the University of California-Davis Health is at the forefront of incorporating Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) as part of interprofessional care teams to support increasing numbers of complex care patients. APPs are vital parts of the multidisciplinary hospital-based teams caring for our patients in specialty care throughout the UC Davis Health system.

Department Specific Job Scope:

Under the supervision of the Burn Division Chief, this position provides inpatient and outpatient care to Burn Surgery patients and their families, functions as a resource person for healthcare providers, and participates in the Department of Surgery's teaching program. The role of the Burn Nurse Practitioner is to perform patient evaluations, physical examinations, follow-up exams, and obtaining and documenting patient histories. May be required to perform central line and/or arterial line placement, other procedures as directed by the attending physician in accordance with standardized procedures.
