Position Summary:

The Wildlife Management Technician will play a crucial role in executing various wildlife and land management initiatives within the Ecological Services Division. This position requires close collaboration with a diverse team, including fellow technicians, biologists, administrative personnel, and sales representatives, to ensure efficient and effective service delivery on client properties.

The Wildlife Management Technician will engage in frequent client interactions, necessitating a commitment to outstanding customer service. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to make informed decisions promptly, be resourceful, follow through on commitments, communicate clearly, foster trust, and adapt to varying circumstances. A professional demeanor and a positive attitude in all client and public interactions are essential.

This role is primarily based out of our operational office, with the expectation of utilizing a company vehicle for fieldwork. Reliable transportation to the office is mandatory, and any personal vehicle usage for business purposes will be reimbursed at the prevailing IRS mileage rate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement wildlife management services at client locations, including the installation and maintenance of rainwater collection systems, wildlife feeders, and nesting boxes for songbirds.
  • Conduct treatments for invasive species, specifically Imported Red Fire Ants.
  • Execute brush management through herbicide application or mechanical methods for non-native and invasive plant species.
  • Participate in wildlife surveys utilizing various methods such as spotlighting, game cameras, and distance sampling.
  • Prepare for service delivery by staging equipment, collecting data forms, and ensuring fleet vehicles are ready for daily operations.
  • Document service delivery through data collection forms, digital imaging, and GIS data capture using handheld GPS devices and tablets.
  • Process and file documentation collected in the field on a daily basis.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients and colleagues to ensure timely and accurate service delivery.
  • Manage warehouse inventory and resupply as needed.
  • Collaborate across departments to achieve organizational goals.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding client information and property.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work outside standard business hours or exceed 40 hours per week as required.
  • Ability to handle extended travel times to and from client locations.
  • Excellent physical stamina, capable of performing heavy labor in various weather conditions and terrains.
  • Proficient in towing and maneuvering trailers.
  • Experience with power tools and chainsaws.
  • Familiarity with iOS (iPad) devices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe software applications.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification in First Aid/CPR/Wilderness First Aid Training.
