Medical Assistant

As a Medical Assistant at Summa Health System, you will play a vital role in providing patient-focused care. You will work collaboratively with care teams to deliver exceptional service and support.
This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position that requires a graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic medical office environment, utilizing your skills in medical terminology, Microsoft Office, and EMR systems.
Key Responsibilities:
a. Participate in daily operations, interpreting and executing provided instructions with professionalism.
b. Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and handle bodily fluids with care.
c. Develop excellent communication skills, working independently and within a team to deliver exceptional patient care.
d. Travel between locations as needed within the medical group, utilizing your ability to effectively interact with patients and maintain their dignity.
e. Obtain BLS certification and pass yearly clinical skill competencies.
Requirements:
a. Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.
b. One year of related medical office experience, externship, or associated experience or education.
c. Knowledge of medical terminology, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and EMR systems.
d. Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and within a team.
e. Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and handle bodily fluids with care.
f. Ability to travel between locations as needed within the medical group.
g. Required ability to handle bodily fluids and possible exposure to communicable disease.
h. Ability to obtain BLS within Summa Health.
i. Must pass yearly clinical skill competencies.
Physical Demands:
a. Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force continuously to move objects.
b. Ability to bend, stand, and walk for extended periods.
Compensation:
$17.55/hr - $21.06/hr. The salary range is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location, are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members when determining offers. Please note that hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical.
