Job Title: Veterinary Assistant

At Petco, we're committed to providing exceptional care for pets and their owners. As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play a critical role in delivering high-quality medical care and customer service in our Vetco Total Care hospitals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent medical care to patients and phenomenal customer care to their owners
  • Represent the mission and values of Petco to all clients
  • Assist doctors with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia
  • Perform patient restraint, obtain and process laboratory samples, and handle and dispense medications
  • Schedule appointments, provide client education, and maintain client/patient records
Requirements:
  • Preferred to have at least 1 year of previous experience working in veterinary practice or sufficient relatable animal care experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Compassionate and sympathetic, with the ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor during emotional and stressful situations
  • Telephone and computer skills
  • Team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments, offer creative ideas, and accept change
Work Environment:

The majority of job duties are conducted in the Veterinary Hospital. Position requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time.
