We are currently in search of a skilled Laser Optics Specialist to lead the advancement of open path laser spectrometers. This role encompasses the development of optoelectronic signal characteristics, robust optomechanical designs, as well as prototype creation and testing. The ideal candidate will embrace significant ownership from initial specifications through to final design and will thrive in a dynamic team environment. As a small and rapidly expanding organization, this position offers a substantial degree of both autonomy and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transform open-ended design specifications into operational optical transceivers.
  • Design and conduct experiments for hardware characterization and validation.
  • Engage in hands-on assembly and testing of prototypes.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in optical laboratory techniques.
  • Experience with freespace beam propagation modeling.
  • Understanding of optomechanical design principles related to free-space optics.
  • Experience in SNR modeling and validation.
  • Familiarity with low noise electronics.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, capable of engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, including non-engineers.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in low optical power detection and photon counting.
  • Familiarity with Zemax software.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks.

Work Environment

This position is based in an office/laboratory setting. Candidates must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States without sponsorship. Equity grants are available.
