Job Title: Collections Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Collections Specialist to join our Accounting team. This role will involve making daily calls to customers with past due accounts, working closely with other departments to resolve outstanding payments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily collections of correspondences with key account customers
  • Call customers with declined or expired credit cards
  • Process all credit memos with proper approvals
  • Enter and manage all third-party portals for customer invoices
  • Work with business customers to switch from physical checks to ACH
  • Work with residential customers to convert to automatic payments
  • Convert customers to e-statements
  • Communicate with the sales team to secure checks and customer satisfaction
  • Update customer account information: address, email, billing, contact, etc.
  • Research and respond to accounts receivable inquiries in a timely manner
  • Track alarm permits as required by city ordinances
  • Prepare Final Demand and Suspension letters

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • One year of previous experience handling Collections
  • 1-3 years previous experience Customer Service
  • Familiarity with laws related to debt collection (Fair Debt Collection Practice Act)
  • Ability to understand general accounting practices/principles
  • Strong communication skills and ability to modify behavior to manage situations and individuals
  • Ability to work with external and internal customers in a professional manner
  • High Degree of Accuracy
  • Ability to work independently
  • Previous experience with Word, Excel, and internet technology

Physical Requirements:

  • Seeing and hearing: Read documents, computer screen, answer phones, and communicate in person
  • Dexterity: utilizing phone, typing, and writing
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull 20 pounds

Work Schedule:

  • Monday- Friday
  • 8am-5pm

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
