The Foreman - Overhead Operations Specialist is a skilled position in the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical overhead distribution systems. This role involves working at various locations and may require travel to other states based on customer demands.
Key Responsibilities- Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead work.
- Coach and train crew members in safe and productive work procedures.
- Lead and teach hot stick work on energized lines.
- Conduct pre-job or tailgate briefings.
- Possess a working knowledge of all aspects of line work, including stringing overhead wire, setting poles and anchors, and installing transformers and other equipment.
- Troubleshoot problems and supervise troubleshooting in primary and secondary systems.
- Replace cutout fuses and clear faulted circuits and systems.
- Frequently work with energized high voltage systems, requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others.
- Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
- Perform rigorous physical labor and lift in excess of 50 lbs.
- Identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit and understand induced voltage.
- Properly sag wire and phase a circuit through a substation.
- Identify and locate puller and tensioner setups and understand grounding procedures.
- Work at heights and/or confined spaces and properly install and remove PPE and cover up.
- Climb different types of structures and safely operate equipment.
- Phase out a line using phasing sticks and plan safe work based on a job print or work order.
- Safely perform a reconductoring job and work outside in inclement weather.
- Install and remove mechanical jumpers and use a load bust tool.
- Ask for and take line clearances and identify and locate puller and tensioner setups.
- Possess a working knowledge of line protection devices and understand flag and tag procedures.
- 5-year minimum of recent field experience.
- Able to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Coordinates and inspects the work of crew members.
- Able to travel long distances on short notice and work for extended periods in various locations.
- Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs and properly inspect rubber goods and PPE.
- Comply with company reporting procedures and complete required company paperwork.
- Possesses a CDL and demonstrates safe driving.
- Will to work over-time when requested.

Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
