Career Opportunity: Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist

Norton Heart & Vascular Institute, based in Louisville, Kentucky, is actively seeking a fellowship-trained or fellowship-eligible cardiologist specializing in advanced heart failure to enhance its growing program. The successful candidate will become part of our Advanced Heart Failure & Recovery Program, which boasts a multidisciplinary team of over 50 professionals, including three board-certified heart failure cardiologists, eight advanced practice providers, and dedicated support staff.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in advanced heart failure therapies, which includes:

  • Management of patients with both preserved and reduced systolic function heart failure.
  • Ability to assess patients for disease management, guideline-directed medical therapy, or referrals for advanced surgical options, such as LVAD or heart transplantation.
  • Expertise in device management, including implantable cardiac defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapy.
  • Experience with heart failure monitoring technologies, including the CardioMEMS HF system and LifeVest.
  • Capability to perform right heart catheterizations and endomyocardial biopsies.
  • Interest in both temporary and permanent mechanical circulatory support, including ECMO.
  • Collaboration with hospital and community initiatives aimed at reducing readmissions and enhancing post-acute care for heart failure patients.
  • Support for VAD implant patients and heart transplant patients through pre- and post-transplant follow-up.
  • Engagement in national research studies related to heart failure and transplantation.
  • Access to telecardiology services and an advanced practice provider first call structure.

  • Medical degree/diploma.
