Advanced Histology Specialist - PRN (As Needed)

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Histology Specialist to join our Laboratory department.

Work Schedule:
PRN (As Needed); Day Shift; Monday - Friday, Hours Will Vary.

Qualifications:

Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Associate's Degree Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science, or related fields Preferred
Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in histopathology Required
  • Preferred experience in a hospital setting
Licenses and Certifications:
  • HT(ASCP) - Histotechnician or HTL(ASCP) - Histotechnologist certification within 90 Days of Hire Required
Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to laboratory protocols for specimen collection, handling, and processing
  • Manage unsatisfactory specimens according to established guidelines
  • Assist in surgical pathology dissection
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare tissue cassettes
  • Ensure proper fixation and embedding of specimens
  • Perform precise sectioning of samples
  • Utilize automated and manual staining techniques
  • Prepare reagents and operate automated coverslippers
  • Ensure compliance with protocols for specialized tests
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while ensuring patient confidentiality
