Job Summary

Gaston College is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our facilities team as a Housekeeper. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • General Housekeeping Duties
    • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
    • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify areas that require attention.
    • Develop and implement effective cleaning schedules to ensure facilities are maintained to a high standard.
  • Daily Cleaning Tasks
    • Empty trash and recyclables from facilities and transport to designated disposal areas.
    • Clean and sanitize restrooms, showers, and other high-touch areas.
    • Replenish toiletries and towels as needed.
    • Maintain walk-off mats, windows, and glass doors.
    • Vacuum carpets and rugs, and spot clean floors as needed.
  • Weekly and Monthly Tasks
    • Dust railings, furniture surfaces, pictures, bookshelves, windowsills, and other high-touch areas.
    • Clean baseboards and spot-clean walls.
    • Mop stairs and vacuum carpets.
    • Clean glass in all interior doors, walls, partitions, and dividers.
  • Special Projects
    • Assist with special events and functions, including setup and teardown of tables, chairs, and equipment.
    • Participate in deep cleaning projects, such as cleaning rugs, draperies, and upholstered furniture.
    Requirements
    • Education
      • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • Experience
      • Previous professional housekeeping experience and experience operating cleaning equipment preferred.
    • Physical Demands
      • Bending, stooping, and reaching required.
      • Ability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 40 pounds required.
      • Ability to wear non-slip footwear required.
      • Continual walking and occasional climbing of stairs required.
