Associate Head Women's Basketball Coach

Job Summary:

The Associate Head Coach is responsible for assisting the head coach in the development, coaching, and administration of all aspects of a highly competitive NCAA Division II athletic program. This includes management of department-wide programs, such as academic support, game management, facilities coordination, recruitment, fundraising, equipment procurement, travel, NCAA compliance, supervision of assistant coaches and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and administer a successful sports program, including recruiting and developing student-athletes, scheduling and organizing practices and contests, administering the sports program budget, and ensuring compliance with Pacific West Conference and NCAA regulations.
  • Monitor and foster student-athletes' well-being and academic success, including monitoring academic progress, developing and instituting study programs, and ensuring a positive student-athlete experience.
  • Assist with fundraising and community service efforts, including organizing and administering fundraising schedules and participating in community service and engagement events.
  • Support the operations of the HPU Athletics Department, including participating in department meetings and events, assisting with sports event management, and serving on committees and sub-committees as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year collegiate institution.
  • At least 2 years of coaching experience at the intercollegiate level with a successful recruiting and competitive record.
  • Demonstrated commitment to rules/policy compliance and a commitment to student-athlete success both academically and athletically and overall student-athlete well-being.
  • Experience demonstrating commitment to positive student-athlete experience for the entire team.
  • Demonstrated regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance in your career, with the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree.
  • Previous NCAA DII experience.
  • Experience working with women's basketball.
  • 3+ years of successful coaching and recruiting experience.
  • Experience taking teams to post-season championships.
  • Experience with program administration at the intercollegiate NCAA level.
Additional Requirements:
  • Attend to details to effectively act on policies necessary and appropriate for HPU Athletics, including the Sports Medicine Handbook, HPU athletics policies and procedures manual, HPU compliance manual, and the student-athlete handbook.
  • Attend to details to effectively act on policies necessary and appropriate for managing NCAA and PacWest Conference related compliance.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU's winter break and other holidays, if necessary.
  • This position may be considered an essential position with report to work obligations depending on the type of emergency, campus closure, or evacuation.
  • Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.
  • Upon hire, candidate must have reliable personal transportation to facilitate travel between all HPU worksites and other locations as required by the position.
