Position Overview
As a Patient Access Coordinator II, you will be responsible for managing patient appointments for medical and ancillary services. Your role will involve the precise collection of essential patient demographic and insurance details while ensuring effective communication with both patients and clinical staff regarding scheduling matters.

Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, colleagues, physicians, and clinical staff.
2. Answer incoming calls, assess patient needs, and provide requested information or services.
3. Direct patient inquiries to the appropriate departments as necessary.
4. Collect and update all relevant patient demographic, insurance, and clinical information.
5. Schedule new patient appointments based on symptoms and clinical data gathered, determining the most suitable physician or clinic for the patient.
6. Ensure timely and accurate scheduling of patient appointments for medical and ancillary services.
7. Maintain and update the patient waitlist accurately.
8. Verify that patients' insurance coverage permits them to see the scheduled physician.
9. Refer patients to financial counseling when required.
10. Ensure that all necessary referrals for services are obtained and communicate with utilization management to authorize services prior to appointments.
11. Accurately process clinical orders in the EMR system in a timely manner.
12. Notify the admissions department when direct patient contact and follow-up are needed.
13. Collaborate with clinicians to ensure accurate ordering and scheduling of patient appointments.
14. Manage physician schedules as assigned to optimize appointment availability.
15. Keep patients informed about the status of their appointments.

Problem Solving
Act as a problem solver for patients, clinicians, and departments to ensure the highest level of customer service in scheduling.

Appointment Management
Monitor all aspects of individual patient schedules to ensure continuity and appropriate prerequisite appointments.
Self-review scheduled appointments to confirm accurate account setup.
Serve as a backup for other personnel within the department as needed.

Knowledge and Compliance
Maintain a solid understanding of clinical operations, insurance processes, and clinical terminology.
Ensure compliance with all institutional and departmental policies, including safety protocols and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; an associate degree in business, nursing, or healthcare administration is advantageous.
Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant experience in a healthcare or customer service environment is required.
Salary Range: $24.55 per hour, with an additional $1.00/hour language differential for bilingual candidates.
