Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Patient Access Representative II to join our team at National Jewish Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for scheduling patient appointments, collecting demographic and insurance information, and maintaining effective communication with patients and clinical staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, coworkers, physicians, and clinical staff.
  • Collect and update patient demographic, insurance, and clinical information.
  • Schedule new patient appointments using symptoms and clinical information collected.
  • Determine the best physician and/or clinic for each patient and schedule appointments accordingly.
  • Ensure patient insurance allows them to be seen with the scheduled physician at National Jewish.
  • Refer patients to financial counseling if necessary.
  • Communicate with utilization management to ensure services are authorized prior to scheduled appointments.
  • Read, comprehend, and complete clinical orders in the EMR in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Notify admissions department of need for direct patient contact and follow-up.
  • Communicate with clinicians to ensure accurate ordering and scheduling of patient appointments.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients to keep them informed of appointment status.
  • Act as a problem solver with patients, clinicians, and departments to ensure high-level customer service.
  • Monitor patient schedules for continuity and prerequisite appointments.
  • Self-review scheduled appointments to ensure accurate account setup.
  • Provide backup support for other personnel in the Adult Administrative Services Department.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Associates degree in business, nursing, or healthcare administration preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of recent and related experience in a healthcare or customer service environment required.
