Role Summary:

Under close supervision, this role involves the daily examination of the company’s financial documentation to ensure adherence to financial regulations. A solid grasp of various financial processes is essential, including month-end and year-end closings, reviewing accounts payable and receivable entries, understanding retail tax computations, and performing bank reconciliations and general ledger assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Possess a foundational understanding of Accounting Principles and familiarity with GAAP.
  • Understand the processes related to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Demonstrate financial analysis capabilities, including proficiency in spreadsheet creation.
  • Conduct daily, monthly, and year-end reviews of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and consistency, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining accurate records and files; reconcile account postings.
  • Address basic accounting and financial inquiries by researching and interpreting relevant data.
  • Reconcile both electronic and manual bank statements.
  • Handle credit card transaction reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and chargebacks, and resolve customer payment issues.
  • Understand fixed asset processing and reporting, including tracking and recording acquired assets, assigning useful lives, and accounting for asset disposition or transfer.
  • Have a general understanding of Sales and Use Tax applications.
  • Balance daily transaction activities across multiple systems to ensure consistency.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company information.
  • Enhance personal job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, and networking.
  • Complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner while delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Consult with management on suggestions for improving financial processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in accounting or finance is required.
  • Experience in a retail/service accounting environment is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with general ledger operations in an ERP system is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Intermediate proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, is required.
  • Ability to design and create spreadsheets is beneficial.
  • Must be able to work efficiently under pressure, meet deadlines accurately, and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple projects, and meet various deadlines is necessary.
  • Strong customer service skills, including the ability to handle diverse customer situations with a positive attitude, are crucial.
  • Key attributes include maintaining confidentiality, treating others with respect, and upholding company values, along with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Educational Requirements:

A high school diploma or GED is required, with an accounting degree being beneficial.
