About the RoleThis is a critical role in our veterinary practice, requiring a strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide exceptional patient care. As a Veterinary Assistant/Patient Care Coordinator, you will be responsible for assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians with various duties, including preparing animals for exams and surgery, performing medical treatments, and administering medications.
Responsibilities- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with exams, surgeries, and medical treatments
- Prepare animals for exams and surgery, including restraint and handling
- Perform laboratory tests and administer medications under the direction of a veterinarian or veterinary technician
- Obtain and properly handle/prepare in-house and laboratory specimens
- Work in cooperation with staff to attend to immediate needs and maintain a clean and safe environment
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients and their pets
- High school diploma or equivalent required; veterinary experience preferred
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb; manipulate up to 50 pounds and lift over 50 pounds with assistance
- Fluent in written and verbal communication skills; ability to exchange accurate information with clients and team members
- Ability to work in a noisy environment with moderate sound levels
