Job Summary

As a Vascular Technologist at Danbury Hospital, you will play a critical role in performing non-invasive vascular studies with a high degree of accuracy and analytical skills. This position requires a strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes, as well as the ability to operate complex instrumentation.

Responsibilities
  • Admit, observe, and discharge patients from the laboratory with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Verify physician orders and confirm patient identification prior to each vascular study.
  • Introduce yourself to patients, explain procedures, and answer questions in a clear and concise manner.
  • Perform a range of vascular tests, including peripheral arterial disease, carotid and vertebral, vasculogenic impotence, and venous disease.
  • Notify physicians of preliminary results and implement STAT orders within 15 minutes and routine orders within 24 hours.
  • Attend continuing education programs and mandatory inservices to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and technologies.
  • Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Must become registered within 18 months from date of hire.
  • Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and complex instrumentation.
  • Ability to convert clinical findings into accurate preliminary results.
  • Minimum experience: six months.
  • ARDMS RVT certification required within 18 months of hire.
Working Conditions

This position requires manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity. There is some occupational risk and physical effort involved, with the ability to exert up to 35 pounds of force. The physical environment may involve exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and human waste.
