Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Security Operator to join our team at the County of Chester. As a Security Operator, you will be responsible for monitoring the premises of the Justice Center, County Treasurer's entrance, Government Services Center, and other locations as requested and authorized.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor security screens to detect and prevent unauthorized items from entering the premises.
  • Screen, confiscate, and remove all unauthorized items, including weapons, cameras, and recording devices.
  • Maintain custody of confiscated items and return them to their owners upon completion of their business.
  • Confiscate illegal contraband and notify supervisory personnel immediately.
  • Control visitors and handle sensitive situations as they occur.
  • Report and document all incidents of confrontation or confiscation.
  • Conform to orders and directives from supervisors.
  • Test detection equipment daily to ensure full operational condition.
  • Perform other duties, tasks, and special projects as required.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Courteous and tactful behavior at all times
  • Flexible and able to conform to directives issued by a supervisor
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong professional ethics
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to follow protocol
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and handle confidential matters
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen test and physical fitness exam
Preferred Qualifications
  • Corrections or law enforcement background
  • Basic criminal and civil law knowledge and experience
  • Six months to one year of job-related experience
  • Background in security
  • Customer service experience
  • Certified in First Aid/CPR
  • Ability to properly use an X-ray scanner
  • Strong people skills
  • Skill and knowledge using a metal detector
  • Strong listening skills
  • Able to use common sense understanding to carry out written or verbal instructions
  • Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems
  • Accurate and detail-oriented
