About the Role

Amergis is seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Health Technician to join our team. As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing educational and behavioral services to children and adults with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Treatment and Counseling: Provide direct treatment, counseling, and monitorial duties to meet the individualized treatment needs of clients in a supportive role.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with school professionals and other behavioral specialists to achieve learning and behavioral goals and objectives.
  • Behavior Management: Implement behavior management techniques, including prevention, intervention, and consequence strategies.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Behavior Intervention Plans: Review and implement behavior intervention plans.
  • IEP Goals: Review and perform tasks to behavioral and ABA goals found within an IEP at the direction of an instructor.
  • Academic Instruction: Assist in facilitating academic instruction at the direction of an instructor.
  • SLP, OT, and PT Development Plans: Assist in facilitating SLP, OT, and PT development plans.
  • Documentation: Document session per policies and procedures.
  • Data Collection: Collect behavioral and academic data accurately and efficiently.
  • Confidentiality: Strictly adhere to confidentiality requirements.
  • Independent Daily Living Skills: Assist students in the development of independent daily living skills through self-care activities such as toileting, clothing routines, and personal hygiene.
  • Support Across Environments: Support students across environments, including the classroom, playground, lunch room, gym, sensory room, library, etc.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in a mental/behavioral health-related field required.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of pediatric experience preferred, two (2) years of mental/behavioral health experience preferred.
  • Professional Standards: Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Training and Certifications: Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable, current CPR if applicable, TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable, current health certificate (per contract or state regulation), and must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Communication and Computer Skills: Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements, ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals, proficiency in the English language required, and computer proficiency required.
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
