Culinary Support Associate - Part Time - Temporary

Role Overview

The Culinary Support Associate plays a vital role in assisting the Lead Cook with the execution of food standards and ensuring a clean and efficient kitchen environment. This position involves collaboration with classroom staff to provide food services and maintain high sanitation standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Lead Cook in adhering to food quality standards.
  • Participate in menu planning, food preparation, and cooking tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records for food programs.
  • Ensure kitchen cleanliness and sanitation protocols are followed.
  • Assist in food service operations within educational settings.
  • Operate and care for kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
  • Communicate effectively and utilize database systems.
  • Uphold the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet productivity objectives.
  • Perform additional tasks to support the mission of Catholic Charities.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Familiarity with food safety and quality standards is essential. Previous experience in a childcare environment is preferred. A background in nutrition or culinary arts is advantageous.

Certifications

Must pass a background check and complete training in Blood Borne Pathogens, First Aid, CPR, and obtain a Food Handlers permit.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, climb, walk, hear, and communicate effectively.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 30 pounds, along with carrying and reaching tasks.
  • Occasional crawling, stooping, and kneeling may be required.
  • Visual acuity with or without corrective lenses is necessary.
  • Proficient in operating standard kitchen equipment.

Applicants must be at least 21 years old and complete a tuberculosis screening.
