Salary & Benefits
The estimated annual salary for this position is $53,924.80, based on an average weekly pay of $1,029.60 and 52 weeks of work per year. Additionally, Ryder offers a range of benefits, including:
- An hourly rate of $25.74
- A certification bonus of up to $700 for new ASE certifications
- A quarterly bonus of up to $500
- Annual merit pay increases
- On-the-job paid training
- Medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plans
- Paid time off starting at day one with 80 hours per year
Job Description
As a Diesel Mechanic at Ryder, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty vehicles. Your duties will include:
- Performing standard vehicle maintenance tasks, such as oil changes and tire work
- Diagnosing complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers
- Completing detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
- Replacing defective components as instructed
- Working unsupervised on most tasks
- Maintaining a clean and organized workspace
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred
- A valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
