Forklift Operator

As a Forklift Operator, you play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Distribution Centers (DC). Your responsibilities include safely and efficiently managing various tasks that support the overall functionality of the DC. Key duties involve loading and unloading goods, order picking, and operating heavy machinery such as forklifts while maintaining optimal inventory levels.

In this role, you are expected to develop the necessary skills to thrive in a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment. A successful Forklift Operator must complete new hire and forklift training, obtaining the required certification. Daily tasks are assigned by the DC manager to meet the needs of both internal and external customers. Your success will be measured by your ability to learn new skills, operate industrial equipment safely, deliver excellent customer service, and foster a collaborative atmosphere within the team.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensuring a safe and clean work environment by adhering to safety protocols
  • Utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and safety glasses while operating machinery
  • Safely operating powered industrial equipment including forklifts and order selectors
  • Loading, unloading, and managing inventory using a warehouse management system (WMS), including handling items weighing over 75 pounds
  • Meeting individual performance metrics and objectives
  • Conducting daily safety inspections of equipment
  • Maintaining product integrity through proper handling and storage
  • Participating in periodic inventory counts
  • Performing routine maintenance and housekeeping tasks
  • Completing all required training sessions
  • Adhering to grooming and uniform standards
  • Meeting company attendance expectations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Experience in a distribution center or warehouse setting
  • Forklift certification required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to learn and operate all facility equipment, including computers and forklifts
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with basic arithmetic capabilities
  • Active role requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and working from heights
  • Frequent lifting and moving of items over 75 pounds
  • Manual dexterity for operating a computer and calculator
  • Normal hearing and vision range required
