Job Summary

LifeSpan is seeking a skilled Master Mechanic to join our facilities team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for repairing and performing routine maintenance on hospital machinery and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair and maintain hospital machinery and equipment, including patient stretchers, wheelchairs, and laundry equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and inspecting equipment, and replacing parts as needed.
  • Assist trades and craft personnel with maintenance and repair tasks as needed.
  • Monitor physical plant and perform maintenance functions alone on evening, night, and weekend shifts.
  • Perform a variety of trade tasks, including carpentry, electrical work, and plumbing.
Requirements
  • Equivalent to completion of four years of high school plus 1-2 years of trade schooling with courses in welding, basic electricity, and mechanics.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, design parts to be fabricated, and investigate cause and resolve equipment malfunctioning.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard maintenance and metal working tools, electronic diagnostic tools, and their proper use and care.
  • Three years related experience in mechanical repair and general renovation and maintenance work.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Will work throughout the hospital, including patient rooms, treatment areas, common areas, labs, and rooftops. May work at off-site locations in equipment rooms and in restricted spaces. May be exposed to extreme cold or high heat conditions, dust, dirt, synthetic oils, cleaning materials, and aerosols.

Independent Action

Duties are generally proceduralized, allowing the incumbent to perform independently with intermittent or little close supervision in conformance with written instructions, established schedules, and predetermined priorities.
