Scope of the Position:


The Environmental Compliance Manager plays a crucial role in spearheading the development and maintenance of robust environmental management systems (EMS) aimed at minimizing the ecological footprint of our operations. This position involves leading and mentoring teams to ensure compliance with safety, health, and sustainability protocols. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in managing intricate environmental permits and documentation while fostering continuous enhancement in environmental performance. A strong advocate for environmental stewardship, this role is pivotal in achieving regulatory compliance and operational excellence.



Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of safety regulations and requirements.
  • Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Possess knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO9001, ISO14001 standards and their implications for the department.
  • Complete training on statistical process control methodologies.
  • Communicate effectively across various levels of the organization.
  • Be familiar with work instructions and their locations within the department.
  • Understand safety regulations concerning wastewater treatment and hazardous materials handling.
  • Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills, alongside proficient computer skills.
  • Stay informed about state, federal, and local environmental regulations, including DOT and community right-to-know laws.
  • Prepare and submit all necessary environmental reports and notifications.
  • Develop, document, and train staff on environmental work instructions across departments.
  • Establish and manage an environmental recordkeeping system for the facility.
  • Oversee all environmental training initiatives within the plant (RCRA, DOT, 24/8 Hazwoper, Permit Awareness).
  • Educate associates on the environmental responsibilities at the facility.
  • Manage waste profiles and ensure compliance with hazardous material shipping requirements.
  • Possess knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and equipment.
  • Conduct audits of the facility, vendors, and other relevant entities as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO 14001 standards and maintain the Environmental Management System.
  • Understand RCRA and DOT requirements for hazardous waste management, including characterization and manifesting.
  • Comply with Customer Specific Requirements (CSR).


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental management, focusing on regulatory compliance and program implementation.
  • Thorough knowledge of environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA) and standards (e.g., ISO14001).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory frameworks.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with a talent for training and educating others.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities, with experience in guiding technical and regulatory teams.
  • Certifications such as Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or equivalent are advantageous.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and environmental management software.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
