Radiation Therapist II Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist II to join our team at Hoag Hospital Irvine. As a Radiation Therapist II, you will play a critical role in the delivery of high-quality radiation therapy to patients with cancer.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform localization of tumors under the direction of the physician
  • Participate in treatment planning and deliver high doses of ionizing radiation treatment to patients in accordance with prescription and instructions from Radiation Oncologists
  • Ensure all protocols and best practices are followed prior and during the delivery of treatment and evaluate the patient daily for any untoward effects, reaction, and therapeutic responses
  • Independently operate Agility, VersaHD, or TomoHD (to include warm up, shut down, and machine operations)
  • Participate in decisions about appropriate simulation technique and treatment positions
  • Verify treatment plan and the mathematical accuracy of the prescription and daily treatment summary
  • Produce quality imaging for optimal viewing results
  • Adhere to all radiation safety rules and minimize patient exposure during CT imaging procedures
  • Ensure quality of block fabrication
  • Determine when to withhold treatment until a physician is contacted as well as the course of action in emergency or problem situation
  • Provide information to patient and patient's family about radiation therapy procedures as well as proper skin care, diet, and self-care procedures as needed
Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree (Preferred Bachelor's Degree)
  • Licensed by the California Department of Health Services as a Radiologic Technologist (Therapeutic)
  • Licensed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in Radiation Therapy or equivalent as recognized by the ARRT
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS), approved by the American Heart Association

This role is based at Hoag Hospital Irvine and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
