Job Summary

Radiation Therapist I performs standard procedures in Radiation Oncology to include all aspects of radiation treatment within the scope of a radiation therapist. This includes radiation treatment delivery to include Cone beam CT, (CBCT), intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), volumetric arc therapy (VMAT).

Key Responsibilities

  • Applies ionizing radiation in accordance with the prescription and instructions from the radiation oncologist.
  • Performs standard radiation treatment procedures to include 3D, IMRT/VMAT and Image guided treatment delivery.
  • Documents all information for patient treatment(e.g. scans, set up instructions, other appointments), and communicates appropriately at hand-off.
  • Checks prescription and plan for accuracy prior to treatment.
  • Ensures all required QA has been performed and reviewed prior to treatment.
  • Verifies completion and accuracy of consent.
  • Performs timeout prior to all procedures.
  • Uses tattoos and setup marks appropriately and consistently.
  • Uses imaging equipment to verify and document isocenter prior to treatment.
  • Asks questions regarding setup and treatment by collaborating with MDs, physicists, and fellow team members to ensure accurate treatment.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree, Radiation Therapy (Preferred)
  • 1 year Clinical experience or radiation therapy program experience caring for cancer patients, operation of a linear accelerator, and CT simulator.
  • Radiation Therapist - The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Radiation Therapy license (ARRT) (T) Upon Hire (Required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire (Required)
