Position Overview

The Retail Outlet Team Member supports the outlet management in achieving the operational objectives of the facility by performing various roles within the outlet. Responsibilities include: processing transactions, organizing merchandise, ensuring quality standards, handling large items, sorting recyclables, maintaining cleanliness, accepting donations (when applicable), and delivering exceptional customer service. The work environment prioritizes production and safety, with daily performance targets established for all roles.

Operational Hours: 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday

Key Responsibilities

Customer-Facing Duties:

  • Processes customer transactions, maintains an accurate cash drawer, and adheres to cash handling protocols.
  • Provides information about organizational programs to assist customers and address inquiries, directing complex questions to management.
  • Ensures the cleanliness of the facility, both interior and exterior.
  • Safely transports properly priced and tagged merchandise to the sales area and organizes it effectively.
  • Assists customers with furniture carry-out requests.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn and perform various outlet functions.

Back-End Responsibilities:

  • Aims to meet daily production and quality targets, updating production records accordingly.
  • Sorts through items to ensure removal of personal and confidential materials from donations and identifies hazardous materials.
  • Alerts management when money, credit cards, weapons, or other questionable items are discovered.
  • Accepts donations and maintains a tidy donation area while informing customers about current promotions.
  • Efficiently sorts products and allocates them to appropriate sections, maximizing the value of each donation to minimize waste.
  • Keeps the backroom organized and clean, ensuring all items are labeled and stored properly.
  • Loads and unloads delivery vehicles as necessary, regularly operating heavy equipment such as pallet jacks and floor scrubbers.
  • Inspects salvage and recycling materials, using appropriate equipment to meet customer and regulatory standards.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • No formal degree required; we value candidates who can demonstrate relevant experience and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Familiarity with warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, and shipping processes.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of conveying information clearly in various formats.
  • Strong customer service orientation, able to build and maintain satisfaction among customers.
  • Basic mathematical skills for handling transactions and measurements.
  • Ability to follow instructions and solve problems in standardized situations.
  • Team-oriented, contributing positively to group efforts.
  • Adherence to ethical standards and confidentiality protocols.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Effective time management skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with relevant software.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and maintaining mobility throughout the workday.
  • Visual acuity for close and distant tasks, as well as depth perception.
