Position Overview

The Retail Outlet Team Member plays a crucial role in supporting the outlet management to achieve operational objectives by performing various tasks within the retail environment. Responsibilities include: processing transactions, organizing merchandise, ensuring quality standards, handling large items, sorting recyclable materials, maintaining cleanliness, accepting donations, and delivering exceptional customer service. The workplace emphasizes production efficiency and safety, with daily performance targets in place.

Operational Hours: 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service Duties:

  • Processes customer transactions, maintains accurate cash handling practices, and ensures a balanced cash drawer.
  • Provides detailed information about organizational programs to assist customers and addresses inquiries appropriately.
  • Ensures the cleanliness and orderliness of the facility, both inside and outside.
  • Safely transports properly priced and tagged merchandise to the sales area and organizes it effectively.
  • Assists customers with furniture carry-out requests.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn and perform various outlet functions.

Back-End Responsibilities:

  • Aims to meet daily production and quality targets while keeping accurate records.
  • Sorts through donations to ensure removal of personal and confidential items, as well as hazardous materials.
  • Reports any found money, credit cards, weapons, or questionable items to management.
  • Handles customer donations and maintains a tidy donation area while informing customers about current promotions.
  • Efficiently sorts products and allocates them to appropriate sections, maximizing the value of each donation.
  • Keeps the backroom organized and clean, ensuring all items are labeled and in their designated places.
  • Loads and unloads delivery vehicles as necessary, operating heavy equipment safely.
  • Conducts inspections of salvage and recycling materials, adhering to customer and regulatory standards.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • No formal degree required; we value candidates who can demonstrate relevant experience and skills.
  • Familiarity with warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, and shipping processes.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to understand and meet customer needs.
  • Customer-focused approach, ensuring satisfaction with products and services.
  • Basic mathematical skills for handling transactions and measurements.
  • Ability to follow instructions and solve problems in standardized situations.
