Position Overview

The Retail Outlet Team Member supports the outlet management in achieving the operational objectives of the facility by performing various roles within the outlet. Responsibilities include: processing transactions, organizing merchandise, ensuring quality standards, handling large items, sorting recyclables, maintaining cleanliness, accepting donations (when applicable), and delivering exceptional customer service. The workplace prioritizes production and safety, with daily performance targets established for all roles.

Operational Hours: 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday

Key Responsibilities

Customer-Facing Duties:

  • Processes customer transactions, maintains an accurate cash drawer, and adheres to cash handling policies.
  • Provides information about organizational programs to assist customers and addresses inquiries, directing complex questions to management.
  • Ensures the cleanliness of the facility, both interior and exterior.
  • Safely transports and displays properly priced and tagged merchandise on the sales floor.
  • Assists customers with furniture pick-up requests.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn and perform various outlet functions.

Back-End Responsibilities:

  • Achieves daily production and quality goals while maintaining accurate production records.
  • Sorts through donations to ensure the removal of personal and confidential items, as well as hazardous materials.
  • Alerts management to the discovery of money, credit cards, weapons, or any questionable items.
  • Accepts donations and keeps the donation area organized while informing customers about current promotions.
  • Efficiently sorts and distributes products to maximize the value of donations and minimize waste.
  • Keeps the backroom organized and clean, ensuring all items are labeled and stored properly.
  • Loads and unloads delivery vehicles as needed, utilizing heavy equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts.
  • Conducts inspections of salvage and recycling materials to comply with specifications and regulations.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • No formal degree required; we value candidates who can demonstrate relevant experience and skills.
  • Familiarity with warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, and shipping processes.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to understand customer needs.
  • Strong customer service orientation, maintaining satisfaction with the organization’s offerings.
  • Basic mathematical skills for handling transactions and measurements.
  • Ability to follow instructions and solve problems in standardized situations.
  • Team-oriented, contributing positively to group efforts.
  • Commitment to ethical practices and confidentiality.
  • Attention to detail and a focus on quality and safety.
  • Effective time management skills.
