About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our avionics development team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for our space exploration missions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems for avionics applications, including analog instrumentation measurement circuits and actuator circuits.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure electrical systems meet system engineering and quality requirements.
  • Develop and execute design plans, including concept and requirements definition, design, prototyping, verification, and release to production.
  • Support risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), design for test/manufacture/cost (DFx), and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.
  • Manage design schedules of avionics subsystems and present program status and issues.
Requirements
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field with 10 years of professional experience, including 8+ years of direct experience in electronics hardware development.
  • Direct hands-on experience with analog, digital circuit design, analysis, test, and debug.
  • Expert knowledge of Op-Amp circuits as applied to instrumentation measurements, including scaling, active filters, and current to voltage conversion.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power, grounding, and general board layout principles.
  • Highly organized teammate with excellent technical skills (written and verbal) and ability to earn trust and maintain positive and professional relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree (or higher) in related engineering or technical field.
  • Expertise designing electronics in a space radiation environment.
  • Proven expertise crafting high-reliability, safety-critical, Class 3 board assemblies.
  • Understanding of mechanical packaging of avionics in harsh environmental conditions.
