Air Traffic Control Simulation Specialist

Remote Pilot Operator:
The Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) serves as both the pilot and air traffic controllers within the air traffic control training simulator. The RPO utilizes a simulated radar interface and voice communication system to replicate the actions and dialogues of pilots and remote ATC facilities during various training scenarios. Responsibilities include:
- Receiving and executing voice commands from trainees.
- Inputting accurate data into the automated system to reflect pilot actions.
- Translating displayed information into appropriate air traffic control terminology.
- Responding to trainees using proper phraseology via the voice communication system.
Please note: This role is not related to UAS / UAV / RPV piloting.
Instructor II:
The Certified Air Traffic Control (ATC) Instructor II position is a hands-on role that requires the individual to deliver high-quality training in both classroom and lab settings to a diverse range of students, including developing air traffic controllers and certified professional controllers (CPC). Key qualifications include:
- Proven teaching and classroom management skills.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and student-focused outcomes.
- Strong technical proficiency with current ATC automation and simulation systems.
- A minimum of five (5) years of recent experience as a Certified Professional Controller in an FAA air traffic control facility.
This more advanced role also involves mentoring students and fellow instructors, as well as contributing to curriculum design and development.
Qualifications for Remote Pilot Operator:
- High school diploma or equivalent, with at least one (1) year of relevant experience.
- Minimum keyboard proficiency of forty (40) words per minute with ninety (90) percent accuracy.
- Ability to interpret technical materials such as diagrams and manuals.
- Clear verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with MS Office Suite is advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of current technological tools is a plus.
- Experience in a multidisciplinary team environment is preferred.
- All candidates will undergo FAA security screening.
Qualifications for Instructor II:
- At least five (5) years of recent experience as a Certified Professional Controller in an FAA facility.
- Experience must be at a comparable or higher-level facility.
- Instructor experience in both classroom and simulator settings is required.
- On-the-Job Training Instructor (OJTI) certification with a minimum of three (3) years in that role is necessary.
- Operational experience with ATC simulators, including scenario design, is preferred.
- Experience in curriculum design and development is desirable.
- Knowledge of specific local facility operations is a plus.
