We are currently seeking a dedicated Surgical First Assistant Technician to become a vital part of our healthcare team. This position plays a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting surgical procedures.
Position Overview:
The Surgical First Assistant Technician is responsible for assisting surgeons during operations by performing specific tasks that align with the surgeon's preferences and techniques. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Incision of surgical sites and providing optimal exposure.
- Achieving hemostasis through various methods including injection and manual techniques.
- Manipulating and dissecting tissues, as well as aiding in the implantation and removal of devices.
- Applying appropriate dressing materials specific to the surgical procedure.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Surgical First Assistant Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing permits to confirm procedures and special requirements.
- Determining necessary equipment for surgical procedures.
- Assisting in patient positioning and draping according to surgeon guidelines.
- Maintaining hemostasis through direct pressure and the application of surgical instruments.
- Making incisions and utilizing electrocautery as directed by the surgeon.
- Ensuring the integrity of the sterile field throughout the procedure.
- Assisting with resuscitation efforts during critical situations in the operating room.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Education: Completion of a formal Non-Physician Surgical Assistant program accredited by CAAHEP.
- Experience: Preferred one year of experience as a certified surgical technician with first assist capabilities.
- Certifications: Required CFSA - Certified Surgical First Assist or CSA - Certified Surgical Assistant.
