This role offers the flexibility of being fully remote from anywhere within the United States, with a travel requirement of 10%-25%.

JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Architectural Historian is tasked with executing Cultural Resources assessments and generating reports on above-ground structures for Section 106 consultations. This position involves conducting historic resource surveys and evaluations for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The incumbent will engage in a diverse array of projects across both governmental and private sectors, providing support to various departments within the organization. This is a project management position, supervised by the Senior Architectural Historian.

  • Oversee all scopes of work for diverse project types.
  • Provide evaluations for NRHP eligibility.
  • Evaluate potential impacts on historic properties.
  • Conduct reconnaissance and intensive architectural surveys nationwide.
  • Perform archival research at local repositories, including libraries, archives, and land record offices.
  • Draft architectural descriptions and complete Architectural Survey Inventory Forms.
  • Prepare technical documentation for Section 106 cultural resource investigations.
  • Develop historic contexts and prepare NRHP nominations.
  • Supervise fieldwork activities.
  • Assist in the training and professional development of Architectural Historians I and II.
  • Actively support and adhere to the culture of safety and employee ownership at Impact7G Inc.
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain consistent and punctual attendance at work and meetings.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • MA/MS in Historic Preservation, City/Regional Planning, History, or a related field.
  • Must fulfill the Secretary of the Interior's Qualification Standards in History, Historic Architecture, and/or Architectural History, or Historic Preservation.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Cultural Resources Management or a related field where report preparation is a primary responsibility.
  • Proven experience in researching historic properties.
  • Demonstrated ability in conducting historic resource surveys and drafting architectural descriptions.
  • Experience in preparing Cultural Resource Reports for Section 106 consultations.
  • Experience in land records research and establishing a complete chain-of-title for historic properties.
  • Proven ability in preparing NRHP eligibility evaluations and assessing impacts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. Candidates must be prepared to provide samples of work that showcase writing ability, historic context development, and knowledge of American Architectural History.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with AutoCad Light.
  • Knowledge of GIS technology.
  • Experience in preparing NRHP nominations.
  • Experience in developing Rehabilitation Tax Credit Applications.
  • Experience in creating Historic Preservation Plans and/or Design Guidelines.
  • Experience with community engagement, including local governments and community leaders.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Capability to work in various weather conditions in outdoor settings.
  • Willingness to travel, often out of state for multiple days.
