POSITION SUMMARY

The Onsite Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Operating System Imaging is tasked with the creation, deployment, and upkeep of Windows workstation images. This role encompasses the utilization of SCCM, MDT, Task Sequences, PXE boot, and the testing and deployment of vendor drivers and BIOS updates.

The Imaging SME will collaborate with various IT departments to guarantee that Windows workstations are configured and maintained effectively.

The Imaging SME should possess expertise in the following areas:

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop Windows images that comply with governmental standards.
Proven experience in the comprehensive support of imaging and deployment of Windows systems.

  • Familiarity with capturing OS images, creating Task Sequences with boot WIM, PXE, and driver updates.
  • Establish and sustain PXE boot infrastructure for Windows workstation imaging.
  • Evaluate and deploy vendor drivers and BIOS updates for Windows workstations.
  • Proficient in image construction, Task Sequencing, and troubleshooting Operating System Deployment (OSD).
  • Experience with SCCM application, patch, and OS deployment processes.
  • Ability to collect Windows 10 image requirements from clients, considering business, functional, and technical needs.
  • Capacity to review, analyze, and suggest changes to desktop Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
  • Skill in converting existing logon scripts to preferences and compliance rules.
  • Ability to assess current logon scripts and optimize them for improved performance based on business requirements.
  • Competence in creating image design documentation, testing use cases, and developing custom scripts necessary for building Standard Operating Environments (SOE).
  • Capability to review and test custom scripts according to requirements.
  • Proactive in identifying potential issues with the image.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting unforeseen issues with the image and the machines being constructed.
  • Coordination with Cybersecurity SMEs for image testing and approval.
  • Deployment of the approved image to production servers.
  • Expertise in Windows 10 migration, user data migration, and associated technologies.
  • Proficient in OneDrive and Office 365 products.
  • Management of Windows servicing lifecycles and deployments.
  • Ability to oversee transitions from inception to go-live phases.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to evolving business environments and new vendor technologies.
  • Availability for after-hours support on a rotational on-call basis (24/7 support).

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

  • Over 7 years of experience in Windows workstation imaging.
More than 7 years of experience in BIOS Configuration with DELL Command.

Experience with Dell Image Assist

  • Proficiency in SCCM, MDT, and Task Sequences.
  • Familiarity with PXE boot processes.
  • Experience in vendor driver and BIOS testing.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell and WMI scripting.
  • Experience with Intune.
  • Proficient in Dell Command.
  • Excellent troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting.
  • Knowledge of Windows security protocols.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory/Azure AD.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing technologies.
