Job Summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a highly skilled Polysomnographer Level III to join our team in Horseshoe Bay, Texas.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in polysomnography and be able to coordinate the daily operations of the Sleep Laboratory. This includes monitoring and assessing Sleep Lab quality, policies, and procedures, as well as staff and equipment performance.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for communicating and educating patients and families regarding sleep disorders and treatments, and consulting with referring physicians regarding patient results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Polysomnographic studies in a clinical setting, including oxygen and nasal continuous positive airway pressure titrations.
  • Score studies and formulate reports for physician interpretation.
  • Document all pertinent patient events according to department policy.
  • Communicate instructions, results, and relative information to patients, physicians, and family members.
  • Calibrate and perform routine and troubleshooting maintenance on equipment, contacting manufacturers for repairs as needed.
  • Notify proper personnel for equipment problems.
  • Clean all equipment ensuring infection control.
  • Consult regularly with the Medical Director regarding patient studies.
  • Maintain standards for completeness of Continuous Quality Improvement and Quality Control measurements.
  • Orient and train new Sleep Lab employees.
  • Establish and implement performance improvements, including education and staff development.
  • Communicate concerns and/or problems with possible solutions to the Department Manager or Director.
  • Maintain a current and complete Policy and Procedure Manual.

Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of Polysomnographic Care modalities, therapies, equipment, and medications.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow flow chart protocols as appropriate.
  • Ability to communicate thoughts clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow established safety, infection control, and isolation procedures at all times.
  • Ability to maintain and troubleshoot audio and video equipment.
  • Advanced computer skills, including data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, handheld scanning, and email.
