Job Summary

The Polysomnography Technologist 3 coordinates the daily operations of the Sleep Laboratory, ensuring the highest level of quality and patient care. This role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform polysomnographic studies in a clinical setting, including oxygen and nasal continuous positive airway pressure titrations.
  • Score studies and formulate reports for physician interpretation, documenting all pertinent patient events according to department policy.
  • Communicate instructions, results, and relative information to patients, physicians, and family members.
  • Calibrate and perform routine and troubleshooting maintenance on equipment, contacting manufacturers for repairs as needed.
  • Consult regularly with the Medical Director regarding patient studies.
  • Maintain standards for completeness of Continuous Quality Improvement and Quality Control measurements.
  • Orient and train new Sleep Lab employees.
  • Establish and implement performance improvements, including education and staff development.
  • Communicate concerns and/or problems with possible solutions to the Department Manager or Director.
Requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of Polysomnographic Care modalities, therapies, equipment, and medications.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow flow chart protocols as appropriate.
  • Ability to communicate thoughts clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow established safety, infection control, and isolation procedures at all times.
  • Ability to maintain and troubleshoot audio and video equipment.
  • Advanced computer skills, including data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, handheld scanning, and email.
