Safety and Security Officer

$1.50 shift premium for evening shifts

$3.00 shift premium for night shifts

$1000 hiring bonus

This is a full-time role. Workdays and hours may vary based on shift requirements. Argus Technical Services operates every day of the week. A typical workweek consists of five days, Monday through Friday, with potential overtime on weekends as necessary. Shift durations can range from eight to ten hours.

OBJECTIVE:
The primary duty of the Safety and Security Officer is to uphold the safety of the facility and its personnel.

The Security Officer is tasked with monitoring and ensuring that both the interior and exterior of the premises are secure.

In the event of any issues or safety concerns, the Security Officer is expected to collaborate with management to resolve the situation promptly and appropriately.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safeguard the organization’s assets and personnel by fostering a secure environment

Act within legal parameters to protect life and property

Document unusual occurrences and observations during patrols

Conduct regular patrols of both internal and external areas of the facility

Familiarize oneself with the facility layout, including all safety exits

Participate actively in the Health and Safety Committee

Assist in emergency evacuations and drills

Support Incident Command Management

Comprehend and implement the company’s Crisis Management Program

Assist in accident investigations and other safety-related tasks

Oversee and maintain reports to ensure the accuracy of emergency information, including:

- Inspection Reports
- Alarm Systems
- Fire Suppression Systems
- Emergency Lighting
- Elevators

Monitor alarm systems or surveillance cameras and operate emergency equipment

Control access at building entrances and parking areas

Manage parking and issue permits to employees

Conduct temperature checks at shift changes to ensure potentially ill employees remain at home

Oversee the access card system; issue, deactivate, and replace access cards

Supervise locker rooms, lockers, and padlocks

Assist the Safety Trainer in onboarding safety training for new hires and ongoing training for current employees

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE AND A CLEAN DRIVING RECORD REQUIRED.

MINIMUM OF 2 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AS A SECURITY OFFICER OR IN A RELATED ROLE (PREFERRED IN AN INDUSTRIAL SETTING)

PROFICIENCY IN OPERATING DETECTION SYSTEMS AND EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT

ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND SURVEILLANCE SKILLS

PROFESSIONALISM AND INTEGRITY
COMPUTER LITERATE; FAMILIARITY WITH EXCEL & OUTLOOK

PREFERRED: HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED
