Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Roadway Construction Inspector to join our Nashville office. This role involves overseeing Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) projects in collaboration with various governmental entities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections on bridge, highway, and railway projects, ensuring compliance with established procedures and standards.
  • Evaluate construction activities for adherence to project plans and specifications across all roadway and structural components.
  • Accurately observe, measure, and document construction quantities for contractor compensation.
  • Maintain detailed project records, including field measurements, for client and auditor review.
  • Monitor daily traffic control measures and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Document and distribute weekly traffic control plans using required formats.
  • Inspect erosion control measures daily to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
  • Prepare justifications for any pay quantity inquiries from contractors or clients.
  • Compile and maintain a precise daily diary that includes contractor details, project developments, and operational activities.
  • Perform additional related tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in Construction Engineering Inspection.
  • High school diploma is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Experience in transportation construction inspection, including bridge, roadway, and rail projects.
  • Preferred certifications include OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Training, Radiation Safety/Nuclear Gauge/Hazmat Training, TDOT Concrete Field Testing, TDOT Soils & Aggregate, and TDOT Hot Mix Asphalt Roadway.
  • Familiarity with Site Manager Software and roadway plans is advantageous.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, including occasional nighttime construction and travel as necessary.
