Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-focused care by performing various delegated basic patient care tasks associated with nursing functions and daily living activities.

Under the guidance of a registered nurse (RN), the PCT supports the nursing staff in delivering patient care in alignment with their skills and departmental needs, while also ensuring a clean, organized, and safe environment for patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in implementing nursing care plans by providing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
  • Gather and document initial and ongoing patient information, including vital signs, height, weight, and other relevant data.
  • Support patient mobility through regular repositioning and assistance with ambulation.
  • Facilitate patient discharges and ensure proper body mechanics are utilized.
  • Collect specimens for diagnostic tests and ensure accurate labeling and timely transfer.
  • Assist patients with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, grooming, and changing bed linens.
  • Engage in best practices that enhance patient experiences, including safety rounds and effective communication.
Qualifications

Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required within 30 days of employment start date. This is a PRN position.
