Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Saddle Stitching Machine Operator to become an integral part of our team at Mittera. This position involves operating saddle stitcher machinery and overseeing the finishing team to ensure we meet our production, quality, and safety objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently and safely operate saddle stitcher machines to produce high-quality outputs.
  • Interpret job tickets and specifications prior to commencing work.
  • Prepare and manage all functions of the saddle stitcher, including pockets, stitcher heads, in-feed, trimmer, mail table, and mail head.
  • Provide support to other operators as necessary.
  • Promote and uphold safety standards while seeking opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Facilitate the ongoing training and development of finishing staff and assist supervisors in refining procedures and processes.
  • Continuously enhance knowledge of new processes to boost production efficiency.
  • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on assigned machinery.
  • Complete maintenance requests as required.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant OSHA and EPA regulations, as well as company safety policies.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 to 2 years of prior experience in a bindery role.
  • Experience with Mueller Martini, Heidelberg, or Osako saddle stitchers is preferred.
  • Familiarity with various bindery equipment, such as binders, cutters, folders, stitchers, and poly wrappers, is advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks including pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, squatting, kneeling, and bending.
  • Capability to lift 25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Requires fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Near visual acuity is necessary.
  • Comfortable working around and operating machinery.
