Unit Details:
The surgical unit comprises 29 beds, catering to a diverse patient demographic that includes surgical, trauma, and various medical cases. The surgeries performed range from neck to abdominal procedures, including gastrointestinal surgeries such as colon resections, small bowel resections, cholecystectomies, and appendectomies. Additionally, we manage vascular surgeries, mastectomies, thyroidectomies, and maxillofacial procedures.
Patients may present with ostomies, nasogastric tubes, feeding tubes, and drains. Trauma patients often have multiple injuries and may require chest tubes, tracheostomies, or other drainage systems, but are stable enough for admission to a non-ICU/step-down medical-surgical floor.
Key Responsibilities:
The staff nurse is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients across all age groups, employing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. This role operates within the established policies and procedures of the organization, demonstrating professional growth and accountability.
The staff nurse will maintain high standards of practice and coordinate patient care activities among all assigned staff to ensure quality nursing care is provided.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education Required:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Minimum Experience Required:
New graduates of a nursing program are encouraged to apply.
Licensure/Certification:
Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Georgia or NLC/eNLC multistate license. BLS certification is mandatory.
Additional Qualifications:
Advanced certification in the specialty area is preferred. A Bachelor's degree in nursing is also preferred, along with nursing experience in a hospital setting.
