About the Institute:
The Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (ACTRI) is a dedicated research unit at the University of California, established to enhance education, training, and infrastructure for clinical research within the San Diego region. The institute collaborates with multiple hospital systems, universities, and biomedical research organizations, receiving partial funding from a Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) from the NIH.
Role Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Finance Director and Manager, the incumbent will:
- Provide comprehensive financial management, administration, and reporting for ACTRI and clinical research operations.
- Identify and resolve financial discrepancies, propose solutions, and ensure compliance with departmental and university regulations.
- Act as a liaison with various financial departments to facilitate the acquisition and management of research funding.
- Support faculty and departmental staff by offering fiscal advice and guidance.
- Collaborate with Principal Investigators and Department Managers to monitor the financial status of funding sources and recommend solutions for fiscal challenges.
- Prepare accurate reports and proposals with team support.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of four years of relevant experience or an Associate's degree in a related field.
- Basic understanding of financial policies, practices, and systems.
- Ability to gather and analyze financial data effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet and database software for financial analysis and reporting.
- Interpersonal skills with a focus on service orientation and critical thinking.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Adaptability to changing priorities and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Understanding of internal control practices and their importance in safeguarding university resources.

Employment is contingent upon a criminal background check.
Compensation:
The annual full pay range for this position is $53,800 - $91,000, subject to prorating based on appointment percentage.
