Role Summary and Requirements
The Emergency Services Manager is responsible for the 24-hour oversight and coordination of staff activities within the Emergency Department, Free-Standing Emergency Department, and/or Urgent Care. This role ensures that patient care is delivered in alignment with physician directives and organizational policies. The manager will lead quality improvement initiatives within the nursing unit and oversee the formulation, assessment, and modification of policies and procedural guidelines. Additionally, the manager will assist in the financial management of the department while staying informed about current standards of emergency patient care.
- Integrate departmental services with the hospital's core functions.
- Maintain and implement quality control measures.
- Facilitate orientation, in-service training, and ongoing education for all departmental personnel.
- Supervise and evaluate the creation of monthly staffing schedules.
- Collaborate with the Department Director or Charge Nurse to address staff, patient, physician, and family concerns.
- Work in partnership with other nursing unit directors, managers, and ancillary departments to ensure seamless patient care and resolve any issues.
- In collaboration with the House Supervisor, Department Director, or Charge Nurse, ensure patient care assignments are made based on nursing skills, patient acuity, and staffing levels, in accordance with state regulations and hospital policies.
Qualifications Required:
- BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Minimum of 5 years nursing experience
- At least 2 years in a leadership role
