Job Overview
Rebecca School is a pioneering educational institution that employs the DIRFloortime approach, a relationship-centered instructional model established by Dr. Stanley Greenspan. We are expanding our services and are currently looking for Lead Teachers to support students aged 3 to 21 who experience neurodevelopmental challenges in social interaction, communication, and cognitive processing.
As a Lead Teacher, you will have the opportunity to design your own classroom curriculum while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to foster the social, emotional, and academic development of our students. This new initiative represents an extension of our successful program, which has been dedicated to serving students with neurodevelopmental delays.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $53,000 to $75,000, contingent upon educational qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement individualized, developmentally appropriate educational programs tailored to each student's needs, in collaboration with a diverse team.
- Adapt instructional materials to accommodate various learning styles and profiles.
- Plan and deliver lessons that adhere to Developmentally Appropriate Practice Guidelines, with regular discussions on progress with the Educational Supervisor.
- Conduct educational assessments to evaluate students' functional levels relative to their age and educational needs across five developmental domains.
- Create and implement treatment plans aimed at enhancing students' functional capabilities and learning potential.
- Provide comprehensive written evaluations and reports outlining students' needs, proposed strategies, and individualized goals.
- Organize and maintain a classroom environment that promotes independence and accessibility for students.
- Engage in weekly communication with families to discuss student progress.
- Participate in regular meetings with fellow educators, interdisciplinary teams, and supervisors.
- Train and assess Teaching Assistants on an annual basis.
- Maintain professional growth through participation in staff development and continuing education opportunities.
- Ensure a safe learning environment for all students.
Qualifications
- A Master's Degree or nearing completion of a Master's program in Special Education or a related field.
- New York State Certification in Special Education.
- Experience with the DIRFloortime approach or a willingness to learn.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build and sustain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
