Job Title: History Interpreter

Join our team of knowledgeable and engaging History Interpreters at George Washington's Mount Vernon. As a History Interpreter, you will provide tours through the Historic Mansion, staff the Washington Family Tomb, and lead specialty tours, educating our 1.1 million annual guests on George Washington's impact on the world.

About the Role:

We are seeking part-time guides who are passionate about history and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. As a History Interpreter, you will work individually and within a team to create a positive learning environment for guests of all ages and backgrounds. You will provide accurate, interesting, and pertinent historical information about George Washington and Mount Vernon in an engaging, timely, and articulate manner.

Responsibilities:
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for guests
  • Provide historical information and insights about George Washington and Mount Vernon
  • Assist with daily opening, closing, and security of the Mansion and Tomb
  • Participate in special tours, programs, and projects as needed
Requirements:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for history and ability to engage guests
  • Flexibility and ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work creatively and effectively as a team member
