Job Description

VNS Health is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Education Manager to lead the development and implementation of clinical education programs for staff across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver program-specific clinical education programs to foster high-quality care through evidence-based practice, performance improvement activities, and professional staff development.
  • Collaborate with education staff across the enterprise to develop an annual training calendar, ensuring a coordinated approach to ongoing programs.
  • Ensure clinical education programs align with the CMS Triple Aim framework, improving patient experience, population health, and reducing healthcare costs.
  • Develop and implement education programs addressing patient-centered needs, identifying and communicating protocols and standards of care for diverse patient populations.
  • Manage implementation of clinical staff development programs, including orientation, in-services, training, and other learning activities, ensuring they meet strategic objectives.
  • Ensure all clinical education programs comply with nursing and social work practice standards, state and federal regulations, and VNS Health policies and procedures.
  • Review program-specific educational program outcomes and evaluations to determine areas for improvement and recommend changes or new programs as needed.
  • Train and oversee training of new and current staff in VNS Health philosophy, policy, standards, procedures, documentation, and efficient work processes.
  • Monitor and evaluate performance of newly hired staff and staff referred for remedial or additional training, counseling, disciplining, terminating, or extending probation as necessary.
  • Design and modify educational curriculum and training materials to ensure staff has current knowledge and competencies to meet program contractual and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct educational needs assessments in collaboration with operations staff to identify learning needs among staff, analyzing and utilizing assessment data to plan for program educational sessions.
  • Identify performance issues and develop performance improvement plans for tenured employees in collaboration with program management, evaluating competency and performance in conjunction with program management.
  • Review and evaluate clinical orientation and ongoing educational program outcomes to determine areas for improvement and recommend changes to current orientation programs as needed.
  • Communicate ongoing e-learning opportunities, evaluating e-learning usage and effectiveness, and identifying opportunities for distance learning.
  • Analyze course evaluations to evaluate effectiveness of training sessions and implement improvements.
  • Participate in the development of annual clinical education strategic goals and objectives.
  • Utilize resources and practice sound fiscal responsibility, providing input for the development of the department budget, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborate with the Quality department in the development and implementation of education-related training programs.
  • Ensure program content is presented in a manner that promotes learning and enables trainees to meet competency requirements.
  • Demonstrate services excellence and create and implement education and training programs centered on the goals and strategies of VNS Health.
  • Perform other supervisory-related duties and projects as assigned.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Current license and registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent work experience required.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Minimum four years' experience in a community-based or long-term home health setting, including at least two years with a primary focus on education and training required.
