About the Position

The City of Edinburg is seeking a dedicated Landfill Technician to perform essential duties in waste management, including screening incoming waste materials and ensuring proper disposal practices.

This role offers a competitive hourly rate of $14.61, plus great benefits, including paid holidays, PTO, life insurance, and retirement plans.

As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the city's environmental efforts, working closely with the compactor operator to direct incoming loads and ensure compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with the compactor operator to direct incoming loads and ensure proper disposal practices
  • Conduct field inspections at the landfill and document evidence to ensure compliance with applicable plans and regulations
  • Provide informative and effective customer service, directing traffic as needed
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; one year of experience in environmental science or a closely related field preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work as part of a team
