The Lead Scientist in Raw Material Innovation plays a pivotal role in collaborating across various departments including Commercial Procurement, Suppliers, Product Development, and Supply Chain to discover new ingredient possibilities that are essential for achieving a defined product vision.
This position is tasked with guiding these ingredients through the evaluation and endorsement process, ensuring they are thoroughly examined for any potential risks to animal welfare or product integrity.
They will also create ingredient Specifications, which encompass identifying the critical ingredient characteristics to be included in that Specification.What are we looking for? Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Animal Nutrition, Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field
0-3 years of experience in the food sector focusing on research and development
Experience with the functionality and quality of food ingredients, preferably in animal proteins.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Degree in Animal Nutrition, Food Science, Food Technology, or a related technical discipline.
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Collaborating with industry suppliers and commercial procurement teams to pinpoint ingredients that fulfill product design requirements.
- Identifying new ingredient opportunities that can yield cost efficiencies while preserving or enhancing product quality.
- Evaluating new ingredients for known risks and ensuring that controls are in place to mitigate those risks.
- Utilizing expertise related to the raw material ingredient portfolio across all relevant applications and serving as a key technical resource within the organization.
- Leveraging knowledge of ingredients to help formulate strategies and discover ways to enhance key product attributes and potential savings.
- Overseeing and managing existing ingredients in our portfolio to guarantee the production of high-quality, nutritious products.
- Ensuring new ingredient opportunities are in alignment with relevant stakeholders within the R&D division.
- Supporting the alignment and management of stakeholders outside of R&D.
- Influencing and/or developing technical strategies and best practices.
- Responsible for drafting ingredient Specifications.
