Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Specialist V to join our team at Health & Human Services Comm. As a key member of our recovery team, you will provide consultation and guidance on behavioral interventions for patients across the hospital. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing and implementing individualized recovery plans, conducting psychological assessments, and providing individual, group, and family therapy.

As a Mental Health Specialist V, you will work closely with our licensed psychologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive comprehensive and compassionate care. Your ability to work independently and with a high degree of accuracy will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized recovery plans for patients
  • Conduct psychological assessments and provide individual, group, and family therapy
  • Provide consultation and guidance on behavioral interventions for patients
  • Work closely with licensed psychologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
  • Develop and implement behavior plans to address problematic behaviors
  • Conduct psychological test administration, scoring, and interpretation under the supervision of a licensed Psychologist

Requirements:

  • Master's or doctorate degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field
  • Experience in psychological/therapeutic work
  • Licensed as a Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or a person eligible to pursue licensure by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologist as a Licensed Psychologist

Additional Information:

Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aid, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct, and HHS OIG list of Excluded Individuals/Entities.

Males between the ages of 18-25 must be registered with the Selective Service. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for employment at a state-operated facility. Waco Center for Youth applicants must be 21 years of age. Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. Compliance with HHSC immunization policy and state hospital operating procedures related to immunizations is required.
