Job Summary:

Mental Health America of South Central Kansas is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Parent Peer Support Specialist to join our team. As a Parent Peer Support Specialist, you will work closely with families who have children with Special Education (SED), Substance Use, or co-occurring conditions. Your lived experience and expertise will be invaluable in providing support, guidance, and advocacy to these families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide emotional support and guidance to families navigating the mental health system
  • Develop and maintain relationships with families, youth, and community stakeholders
  • Collaborate with mental health professionals to ensure comprehensive care
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge

Requirements:

  • Lived experience in raising a youth with SED, Substance Use, or co-occurring conditions
  • Computer literacy and ability to use technology to communicate with families and stakeholders
  • Valid Kansas driver's license and access to a personal vehicle

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position that requires a strong commitment to supporting families and promoting mental health awareness. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with families and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
