Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Patient Responsibility Specialist to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about delivering excellent customer service and ensuring seamless insurance verification processes.

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per year (dependent on location and experience)

Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities:
  • Verify patient insurance benefits by contacting insurance companies and interpreting managed care contracts
  • Determine precertification requirements and resolve any issues with physician offices
  • Calculate patient responsibility for cash payment based on reimbursement and account reviews
  • Accept payments and ensure accurate accounting of payments received
  • Use procedure codes to ensure proper billing and review financial records for correctness
Personal Development and Professionalism:
  • Serve as a resource to other members of the healthcare team
  • Attend in-services, conferences, and meetings as required
  • Maintain designated certifications such as CPR
  • Act in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of United Surgical Partners
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years previous experience in insurance verification, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Medical terminology knowledge
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Typing speed of 45-60 WPM
